Air’s Moon Safari arrived in 1998 like a cool breeze through the world of electronic music, blending postmodern Krautrock downtempo grooves, analog warmth, and a dreamy sense of escapism. The French duo—Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel—crafted the album in their native Versailles, pulling from a wide range of influences, from '60s lounge music to space-age exotica pop, while keeping their sound lush and cinematic. Produced by Air themselves, Moon Safari is largely an instrumental record, but it features the ethereal vocals of Beth Hirsch on standout tracks like “All I Need” and “You Make It Easy,” lending a human touch to their cosmic soundscapes. Moon Safari helped define chillout genre and earning a place in the canon of essential electronic albums.
