What Lies Beneath proudly announces its first vinyl release, ‘More Small Songs’ by Antony Milton. As Antony tells it, these ‘small songs’ were ‘… born out of the warm thrum of an old classical guitar, the first of these tracks emerged as a surprise one rainy morning to be followed by another, and then another. In a sense they are like sketches, less throwaway than snapshots yet more honest than fussier audio can often be.’
These five musical sketches reach through time and space with an emotional atmosphere which has elements reminiscent of the likes of: Bill Direen’s ‘80’s Flying Nun output, Expressway era Alistair Galbraith and Antony’s long running yet rarely recorded duo with Clayton Noone, Claypipe.
